Fiona Bassett to Lead LSEG’s FTSE Russell Index Business

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has announced that Fiona Bassett will join the group as CEO of its FTSE Russell global index business later this summer. She will be based in New York and report to LSEG CEO David Schwimmer. Bassett joins LSEG from DWS Group, where she held the roles of CEO DWS UK and global head of systematic investment solutions, managing more than $300 billion of assets under management. During a 20-year tenure, Bassett has held various senior leadership roles across asset management and index investing at Deutsche Bank, latterly DWS Group. She will replace Arne Staal, who is moving to another role within LSEG.

S&P Names New President at Sustainable1 Unit

Rating company and data vendor S&P Global has appointed a new president to its sustainability business. Chris Heusler has been named president of S&P Global Sustainable1, moving from his role as chief commercial officer at S&P Global Ratings.

Delta Capita Names Julian Chesser Regional Head of APAC

Capital markets consulting and managed services provider Delta Capita, has named Julian Chesser as regional head of APAC based in Singapore. Chesser will be responsible for leading all aspects of the business across the APAC region and developing regional strategy for future business expansion. He has over 25 years’ experience in global and regional roles across financial markets.

Duncan Cooper Takes Role of CDO at Northern Trust Asset Servicing

Duncan Cooper, a data strategy, products and governance expert, has moved on from BNY Mellon to become CDO at Northern Trust Asset Servicing. Cooper joined Northern Trust early this month, having spent two years at BNY Mellon with responsibility for creating and operating the company’s OMNI digital services. During his 25-year career in the financial services industry, Cooper has also held senior roles at banks and companies including HSBC, SimCorp and Bloomberg.

Gresham Technologies Hires Dan Kennedy to drive North America Growth Plans

Gresham Technologies has appointed Dan Kennedy as senior vice president of sales, North America as part of the company’s continued expansion in the market. Based out of Gresham’s New York office, Kennedy will be responsible for all business development, sales, account management and partnering activities in the region. He joins with than 25 years of experience in enterprise technology solutions, including seven years at Corvil (now part of Pico) as managing director and head of sales, Americas focused on real-time data analytics, cloud, cybersecurity and managed service solutions for financial markets.

Gresham has grown its business in North America from winning its first customer in 2015, to having more than 150 customers in banking and investment management supported by a team of over 60 people on the ground.

GoldenSource Appoints New Chief Financial Officer to Accelerate Growth

GoldenSource has appointed Derek Apfel as chief financial officer. Based in New York, Apfel will lead finance, operations, HR and corporate development as the company seeks to accelerate global growth following its 2022 acquisition by private equity firm Gemspring Capital. Apfel previously held roles at firms including Citi, Bank of America, and most recently Tilting Point, where he was chief financial officer and oversaw rapid organic growth and several acquisitions.  Apfel will report directly GoldenSource CEO John Eley.

This hire is the second made by the GoldenSource management board this year, following the appointment of Swati Tyagi to chief product officer in February. Tyagi oversees product strategy and development.

ESG Consultancy 7 Centre Launched by Orenda Founder

A new consultancy, 7 Centre, has been launched, dedicated to advising corporate and financial clients on ESG engagement and offering guidance on sustainability strategies and incorporation of ESG factors into decision-making processes. The company was founded by ESG thought leader Tanya Seajay, who created alternative data firm Orenda.

LSEG Bolsters Leadership with New Data & Analytics and Sales & Account Management Executives

LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) has announced the appointment of Satvinder Singh as Group Head of Data & Analytics and member of the LSEG Executive Committee, effective from 3 July 2023. Reporting to CEO David Schwimmer, Singh will lead LSEG’s global data and analytics businesses, catering to over 40,000 customers across 190 countries, and will also spearhead the joint development of new products and services in collaboration with Microsoft.

Furthermore, LSEG has confirmed the appointment of Ron Lefferts as Group Head of Sales & Account Management to the LSEG Executive Committee, effective immediately. Based in New York, Lefferts joined LSEG in 2021 to lead the Data & Analytics Sales and LSEG key account teams.

Peter Serenita Joins Element22 as Advisory Partner

Peter Serenita, one of the first global CDOs in financial services, and chairman of the EDM Council’s board of directors, has joined Element22, a provider of data, data management and analytics solutions and consulting services, as an advisory partner. His role will include collaborating with Element22’s clients on a variety of projects using his knowledge to provide guidance and counsel on data management and analytics strategies. Serenita, will also be instrumental in shaping Element22’s strategic vision, product innovation, and consulting offerings. Before joining Element22, Serenita held the position of CDO at several prominent financial institutions. Most recently, he served as Scotia Bank’s CDO for five years, and prior to that, he held CDO roles at HSBC and JP Morgan.

Niresh Rajah Moves on From Grant Thornton to Take CDO Role at Danske Bank

Niresh Rajah, currently managing director and head of the digital, data and RegTech practice at Grant Thornton in the UK, will join Danske Bank as CDO and a member of the technology and services leadership team with effect from 17 April 2023. Rajah will work with Danske Bank COO and member of the executive leadership team, Frans Woelders, to take the bank’s data and analytics to the next level.
